Description
We are River Valley Veterinary Hospital (RVVH), a 2 doctor practice located in Derby Connecticut. Welcome to our corner of veterinary medicine where we value a close-knit, honest, collaborative environment between our clients and team members.
We are looking for a new doctor to join our hardworking team of special individuals and help our hospital become the best it can be. We are also welcome to having new and recent graduates who are searching for a place where mentorship and the constant pursuit of learning are fostered.
At RVVH, we focus on Fear Free principles and are a Cat Friendly Practice Silver member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. We are a small but fast paced practice where our team has a strong partnership with clients built on clear, consistent communication and education. We are committed to equality, inclusion and diversity and strive to be a place where a talented and skilled mix of people want to come, stay, and do their best work.
What sets us apart?
At RVVH, we want our clients to be able to say yes to diagnostics. We set affordable prices that allow the doctor and client to work together to achieve the best possible health for their pet. We view pets as family members and will try our very best to make anything possible for patients. Working as a doctor at RVVH means that you have open communication with our traveling board certified internist, criticalist, and surgeon who are happy to provide their expertise with any case. We are also fortunate to have numerous referral hospitals in our area to provide specialty care as needed for our patients.
We believe that learning does not end upon graduation from vet school, but should continue throughout your career no matter how long you have been practicing. This is why we send both our technicians and doctors to yearly conferences such as VMX in Orlando, FL and WVC in Las Vegas, NV as well as providing annual subscriptions for each doctor to VIN, an AVMA Membership, Fear Free Certification, and licensing to practice in Connecticut.
It is important to us that we stay on the cutting edge of veterinary technology in order to be able to provide the most up to date care to our patients. We have a surgical CO2 laser, digital radiography including dental radiography, Class IV laser therapy, and an in hospital chemistry analyzer.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for someone that is willing to go the extra mile for their patients. Whether it be providing a listening ear for a worried pet owner, helping a coworker problem solve, or collaborating with other doctors on a current case, we know the power that working as a team with both owners and colleagues can have on the outcome for that pet.
The perfect candidate will have a focus on preventative care and the detection of early disease. We believe in getting our patients started on a healthy lifestyle track right from the beginning. In this position, you will use your medical judgment combined with a high level of empathy, confidence and humility to save pets’ lives. As a member of our team, your passion for medicine and compassion for pets and people is matched with a commitment to your professional growth.
