General Small Animal and Exotics Practice | Full-Time | Competitive Compensation
About Lakeside Animal Hospital
Lakeside Animal Hospital is a well-established, independently owned small animal practice now
under new management and entering an exciting new chapter. We are committed to delivering
exceptional, compassionate care to our patients and their families, and we’re building the team that will take us there. Our culture is collaborative, our environment is low-drama, and our focus is on clinical excellence and work-life balance. We invest in our people, our equipment, and our
community — and we’re looking for a veterinarian who shares that same passion.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, full-time small animal veterinarian to join our growing team. This is not an entry-level role — we’re looking for a confident clinician who can step in, build client relationships, and practice high-quality medicine from day one. You’ll have the clinical autonomy to practice the medicine you believe in, supported by a tenured support staff and a fully equipped facility.
What You’ll Do
Perform wellness exams, preventive care, and sick patient workups for dogs and cats and exotics
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
Perform routine and soft tissue surgeries (spay/neuter, mass removals, abdominal
procedures)
Interpret diagnostic imaging (digital radiography, ultrasound) and in-house lab results
Develop and communicate individualized treatment plans with clarity and empathy
Mentor and collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff
Maintain thorough, accurate medical records in practice management software
Participate in on-call or emergency coverage rotation as needed
What We’re Looking For
Required
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an AVMA-accredited institution
Active veterinary license (or ability to obtain licensure) in the state of practice
Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience in small animal practice
Strong surgical skills and diagnostic confidence
Excellent communication skills with clients and team members
DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
Preferred
Experience with digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house diagnostics
Fear Free or Low Stress Handling certification
Interest in mentorship and team development
Experience with exotics is a plus, but not required
Established client following in the region is a plus, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a highly competitive package designed to reward great medicine and support your
professional growth. Details are discussed during the interview process.
Competitive base salary
Monthly production bonus opportunity
Health insurance
Generous paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays
Annual professional benefits allowance (CE, dues, DEA, PLIT, and more)
Retirement plan
Employee pet discount
Our Culture
We believe that happy, supported veterinarians provide the best patient care. At Lakeside, you’ll find a team that shows up for each other, a front desk that respects your time, and technicians who take pride in their craft. We keep caseloads manageable, communicate openly, and make decisions as a team. If you’ve ever felt burned out or undervalued elsewhere, we want to change that experience for you.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit the following:
Current CV or resume
Brief cover letter describing your experience and what you’re looking for in your next role
Three professional references (will not be contacted without your consent)
We review applications on a rolling basis and will reach out to qualified candidates promptly.
