The successful candidate will join our team of Diagnostic Medical Physicists (3) and Physics Assistant (1), more than 80 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, and more than 30 physician trainees. We are starting a Diagnostic Imaging Physics Residency program with 2 trainees.
The Division provides diagnostic & nuclear physics support for UK Health Care and its affiliated clinics. Our routine activities include annual equipment performance checks, specification and acceptance testing of new imaging equipment, facility design, radiation shielding design and inspection, radiation dose estimation (including fetal doses) for exposure of patients and personnel, radiation dose management and tracking, accreditation support (ACR, TJC, etc.), regulatory support, general oversight of modality quality assurance programs, and troubleshooting of image quality problems. We work closely with health physicist colleagues who handle most of the radiation safety responsibilities, as well as physician colleagues in Radiology, Cardiology, and many other medical specialties within our health system that use imaging for diagnosis and treatment. We also support clinical research and engages in academic activities appropriate to the university environment.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree or equivalent in medical physics or a related field, be board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology, and have a minimum of 5 years of related clinical experience with a strong foundation in all imaging modalities. Certificate or experience in Nuclear Medical Physics is an addition. Academic rank will depend on qualifications and experience.
