Description
Nuclear Oncology Fellowship – UPMC Department of Radiology
The Division of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a Nuclear Oncology Fellowship beginning July 1, 2026. This fellowship offers advanced training in diagnostic multimodality imaging—including PET/CT, SPECT/CT—and clinical radionuclide therapies (e.g., Pluvicto, I-131, Lutathera, Xofigo, Y-90 spheres). Fellows will gain exposure to novel tracers and therapeutic agents through ongoing clinical trials.
UPMC is a leading multicenter hospital system with a large and diverse patient population. Our facilities feature state-of-the-art imaging technology, including the Siemens Quadra whole-body PET/CT scanner and multiple PET/CT and SPECT/CT units. Training emphasizes oncologic imaging and theranostics, preparing fellows for careers in both academic and private practice settings.
UPMC is internationally recognized for innovation in imaging instrumentation and radiotracer development, including the invention of the first PET/CT scanner and over 100 radiolabeled compounds for clinical and research use. Resources include a preclinical PET/CT suite, advanced radiochemistry laboratory, and a range of human imaging systems (GE PET/CT, Siemens HR+ brain PET). A dedicated brain workstation supports advanced analysis for dementia, epilepsy, and brain tumors.
Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited radiology or nuclear medicine residency (or equivalent international training) and be eligible for an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license and DEA registration. Training occurs at our high-volume academic center in Pittsburgh, with referrals from oncology, trauma, transplantation, and hepatobiliary specialties.
Fellows participate in a specialized curriculum, weekly multidisciplinary tumor conferences, and journal clubs. Opportunities for teaching and research, including experimental PET radiopharmaceuticals and imaging biomarkers for cancer therapy response—are available.
To apply, please submit a cover letter and CV to RadRecruiting@upmc.edu. Your cover letter and CV will be shared with the Division Chief for review.
