Description
We’re seeking a Part-Time CT Technologist at Wellstar Imaging Services at Cobb Medical Center to join a high-performing imaging team that keeps care moving.
Incentive: Position is eligible for Sign On Bonus and Relocation
Core Responsibilities and Functions
Deliver Exceptional, Safe Patient Care
- Obtain relevant clinical history, assess contraindications (e.g., contrast, implants, renal status), and escalate to the provider when needed.
- Prepare and position patients for CT exams, maintaining privacy, comfort, and dignity throughout the procedure.
- Demonstrate age-appropriate care and adapt communication and exam techniques for each patient population.
- Monitor patient condition during and after procedures, recognizing changes that require physician or rapid response team intervention.
- Respond effectively in emergency situations and assist with maintaining life support equipment and crash cart readiness.
Perform High-Quality CT Imaging
- Independently perform a wide range of CT exams according to department protocols and physician orders.
- Adjust technical factors and utilize dose-reduction strategies so patients receive the lowest reasonable dose while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
- Review images for technical and clinical adequacy prior to releasing patients; repeat images when necessary.
- Demonstrate proficiency with contrast administration, including operation of power injectors, IV access/venipuncture, and post-contrast patient monitoring.
Own the Procedure Workflow
- Use critical thinking to clarify ambiguous, incomplete, or questionable orders before proceeding.
- Engage patients and families with clear, empathetic communication – explain the purpose, steps, and expectations of each exam to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation.
- Perform and document pre-procedural verification.
- Demonstrate and maintain competency in sterile technique and pre- and post-procedure care when assisting with interventional or specialized CT procedures.
Equipment and Technology
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CT equipment, workstations, and associated devices to ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Report equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain equipment and exam rooms per infection prevention standards and the departmental cleaning schedule.
- Operate all CT department workstations, including image post-processing, 3D reconstructions (where applicable), and pushing/retrieving images.
Documentation, Education & Communication
- Provide clear preparatory instructions and explanations to patients prior to procedures, using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, Thank) with patients and families.
- Address questions, concerns, and contraindications, and involve the radiologist or ordering provider when additional clarification is needed.
- Accurately complete all required documentation in the electronic systems (RIS, PACS, EMR) using concise and appropriate terminology.
- Read and act on departmental communications (including email) and complete mandatory hospital and departmental education within deadlines.
- Participate in orientation, mentoring, and on-the-job training for new team members and students.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Readiness
- Consistently produce diagnostic-quality images.
- Send studies to PACS; ensure exams are correctly completed in RIS and reconciled with PACS.
- Support teleradiology workflows.
- Maintain Joint Commission and other regulatory standards through safe practice, accurate documentation, and readiness for survey at all times.
Operational Excellence & Teamwork
- Restock linens, supplies, and contrast; maintain a clean, organized, and safe department environment.
- Safely transport and assist patients on and off the procedure table, using appropriate ergonomics and support devices.
- Perform patient charging activities accurately on the day services are rendered.
- Apply shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices to enhance safety and image quality.
- Collaborate with peers, radiologists, nursing, and other departments to prioritize and coordinate patient flow.
- Participate in call, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled and flex hours to support departmental needs.
- Maintain productivity levels in line with team benchmarks while safeguarding patient safety and quality.

Requirements
Required Education & Experience
Graduate of an Accredited Program for Radiologic Technology
1 year experience in Radiology
Required License(s) and Certification(s)
ARRT-R - ARRT Radiography
ARRT-CT - ARRT Computed Tomography
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
