The Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy is a member association and the peak body representing medical radiation practitioners in Australia since 1950.
Our mission is To empower medical radiation practitioners for the health of all Australians.

Members of the Society improve healthcare by advocating for patients, influencing local, national and international policy and practice, advancing professional standards and pathways and leading and engaging in research and learning.

Our members are radiographers, radiation therapists, nuclear medicine technologists, sonographers mammographers and others in the medical radiation science professions. The welfare of their patients is at the centre of everything they do.

ASMIRT is seeking an experienced and dynamic Communications Coordinator with some videographic experience.

You will be responsible for executing all communication requirements to assist in the Society’s messaging, which includes digital, content, and social. The right person for this position is an engaging writer who can quickly and concisely communicate membership and event communications, alongside cutting-edge science, research, and education announcements involving medical radiation sciences. You will also be responsible for the recording and editing of video content, interviews, and news stories for broadcast on the Societies media platforms

You will bring your strong communication abilities and experience to manage and prioritise tasks with a high attention to detail, whilst maintaining a positive can-do attitude.

This position is ideal for someone wanting a varied and critical position, where you will interact with all departments of the Society and membership to disseminate their communications to a broad range of audiences.

Limited interstate travel will also be required.


The key areas of focus for this role include:

  • Planning and coordinating the production of digital communication
  • Creating and editing high-quality digital and print copy
  • Creation of artwork for event promotions
  • CMS management of 3+ websites, using WordPress
  • Communication strategies for national events
  • Working within brand guidelines to produce new marketing collateral
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and branch committees
  • Execution of campaign communications
  • Liaising with external advertising agencies and clients who advertise with us
  • Liaising with external printers, designers, photographers, and other relevant providers as required
  • Tracking and reporting on digital elements, analytics, and performance
  • Provide adhoc support to the Events Team

Your skills will include:

  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Communications, Public Relations, or a relevant discipline
  • Strong writing skills, videography, and social media acumen
  • Proven analytical thinking
  • Experience in effective communication to deliver varied Department and Board messaging
  • Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all organisational levels
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with Mail Chimp/Digital Send or similar platform
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Experience with InDesign/ Canva or similar platform
  • Writing for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Interviewing and writing for magazine publication
  • Ability to meet deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to manage and deliver complex projects across multiple audience groups
  • Ability to work autonomously or in a team
