Licensed Dental Hygienist Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct thorough dental cleanings and remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth
Perform dental examinations and assess patients’ oral health
Take and develop dental X-rays
Apply fluoride treatments and sealants to prevent cavities
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
Document patient care and treatment plans in dental records
Assist the dentist during procedures as needed
Administer local anesthesia under the direction of a dentist
Take impressions of patients' teeth using intraoral scanner
Clean and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the office
Requirements
Licensed Dental Hygienist Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene
Previous experience working in a dental office
Proficiency with dental software and patient management systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Experience with dental radiography
CPR certification
Current state licensure as a Dental Hygienist
Strong understanding of dental hygiene practices and procedures
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
Ability to educate and motivate patients regarding oral health
Knowledge of current dental hygiene health protocols and procedures
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
