As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you’ll play a vital role in delivering safe, age-appropriate care and producing high-quality diagnostic studies. You’ll use your expertise and independent judgment to perform a wide range of technical procedures, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort every step of the way.
What You’ll Do
Patient Care
Confirm clinician orders and gather complete clinical history.
Assess for contraindications and follow strict protocols for radiopharmaceutical administration.
Ensure proper patient identification and image markers.
Review images for quality and release patients promptly.
Respond to emergencies, maintain life-support equipment, and restock crash carts.
Assist colleagues across modalities when needed.
Monitor patient conditions and escalate to physicians when necessary.
Protect patient privacy and dignity throughout every procedure.
Apply age-appropriate techniques and maintain sterile practices.
Prep patients, perform venipuncture, and demonstrate critical thinking in complex situations.
Communicate clearly—ask questions, clarify ambiguous orders, and engage patients and families with empathy.
Equipment
Adjust techniques for optimal image quality.
Report equipment issues promptly and maintain cleanliness per infection control standards.
Education & Communication
Explain procedures using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, Thank) to reduce anxiety and build trust.
Address patient concerns and involve physicians when needed.
Mentor new team members and complete all required documentation and training.
Quality Control
Consistently produce diagnostic-quality images
Verify equipment calibration and functionality before each use.
Upload studies to PACS immediately and manage related documentation accurately.
Operations
Keep the department organized and stocked.
Assist with patient transport and positioning.
Handle patient charges, apply immobilization devices, and support team members proactively.
Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
Take call as needed and perform additional duties to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements
Education: High School Diploma plus completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Science or Nuclear Medicine. Licenses & Certifications: ARRT-N - ARRT Nuclear Technology or CNMT - Cert Nuclear Med Tech, and BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor (Required upon hire) Experience: At least 1 year in a clinical setting or 1 year in Nuclear Medicine.
