Happy Tales Veterinary Hospital is an independently owned small-animal practice looking for another veterinarian to join our team. Whether you are an experienced DVM looking for a better work-life balance or a new graduate who wants genuine mentorship, we want to create a position where you can practice excellent medicine without your career taking over your life.
The position Our Associate Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, and preventive care for companion animals. You’ll work alongside three collaborative veterinarians and an experienced support team in a hospital that encourages doctors to discuss cases, learn from one another, and practice medicine with the patient—not a production number—as the priority.
This is a 3-day-per-week position with no weekends and no on-call responsibilities.
What you'll do You’ll perform wellness and sick-patient examinations, develop diagnostic and treatment plans, interpret laboratory and imaging results, perform routine surgical and dental procedures, and communicate openly with clients about their pets’ care. You'll maintain complete medical records and collaborate closely with our technicians, assistants, CSRs, and fellow veterinarians.
Doctors interested in expanding their skills will have opportunities to work with advanced diagnostics and procedures rather than being limited to routine appointments.
Medicine at Happy Tales Our hospital has invested heavily in giving our doctors the tools they need to practice high-quality medicine. Our capabilities include a MyLab™ X90VET ultrasound, IDEXX in-house laboratory, digital whole-body and dental radiography, VetOvation laparoscopy and endoscopy, CO surgical laser, dental equipment, ophthalmic diagnostics, cold laser therapy, and critical-care capabilities.
We perform laparoscopic procedures, including spays and gastropexies, as well as endoscopic procedures such as gastric foreign-body retrieval.
Compensation & schedule Base salary: $140,000–$180,000, based on experience. This is a base-salary position without production-based compensation.
The position also offers a 3-day workweek, no weekends, no on-call, $10,000 in relocation assistance, and potential housing availability.
New graduates New graduates are encouraged to apply. We don't expect a new veterinarian to walk through the door knowing everything.
You'll have three veterinarians to learn alongside, opportunities to discuss cases, develop surgical and diagnostic skills, and gradually build confidence. We want mentorship to happen during your actual workday—not simply be something mentioned in a job advertisement.
Experienced veterinarians If you've been practicing for years and want greater autonomy, a collaborative environment, modern equipment, and a schedule that gives you your life back, we'd like to meet you as well.
We value experience and want you to bring your own ideas and strengths to the hospital.
Who we're looking for We're looking for a veterinarian who practices compassionate, thoughtful medicine; communicates well with clients and teammates; enjoys collaboration; and wants to continue learning. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to become part of the Happy Tales team and our community—not simply fill a schedule.
Applicants must hold or be eligible for a Pennsylvania veterinary license and be authorized to work in the United States.
Come meet us A résumé can tell us about your experience, but it can't tell you what it feels like to work here. We'd rather start with a conversation and give you the opportunity to meet our doctors and team.
We are a small animal general practice that takes pride in providing the best medicine and surgery for our patients. Our caseload is diverse and consists of about 50% wellness and 50% illness visits. Believe me, you won’t get bored with our medical and surgical cases. Our doctors love to round and we have specialists just a phone call away, so you will not be alone trying to navigate challenging cases.
