- Adjunct Instructor - Radiography
Description
Adjunct (part-time) faculty in this position teach courses in didactic, lab, and clinical formats at all levels of Radiography instruction. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will be primarily on Lansing Community College's (LCC) downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of Clinical sites and/or online assignments. An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi as well as accreditation standards and professional/industry standards. Duties include planning & preparation of course materials, delivery of instruction to students, assessment and grading, and assisting students outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruction – Deliver high-quality and engaging instruction in didactic, lab, and/or clinical settings using appropriate pedagogy and educational technology. Continually adapts teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and promote student success, all while incorporating the latest developments in the field, effective teaching practices, innovations in healthcare education, and professional and accreditation guidelines. Ensures implementation of established curriculum, syllabi, and program handbook. Encourages meaningful discussions, active student participation, and the development of critical thinking skills. Assess learning utilizing varied instructional modes and using evaluation methods consistent with official course syllabi. Participates in standardized program assessments if applicable. Instructor of Record duties include: Maintains D2L course sites keeping content organized, refreshed, and user-friendly. Submits course evaluations, grades, and gradebooks on time and according to program and College standards. Submits enrollment verifications on time. Ensures course syllabi is accurately maintained and upheld per College policy.
- Student Support – Foster respectful, inclusive, and accessible learning environment that supports diverse student needs. Maintain regular office hours to offer individualized support, address student concerns, assist with course-related questions, and deliver feedback on academic performance. Identify and support students facing academic or personal challenges. Maintains knowledge of College resources and makes appropriate referrals. Contributes to the academic and professional development of students by helping them navigate academic challenges and opportunities. Connect students with academic resources and enrichment opportunities, including tutoring, writing centers, and academic organizations. Serve as a mentor to students, offering guidance on academic pathways and career planning. Participates in LCC’s Early Alert and Student Success Coaching processes when applicable.
- Development & Planning – Design, develop, and update course content, syllabi, and instructional materials in alignment with program objectives, academic standards, and College policies & procedures. Ensures implementation of established curriculum. Continually makes improvements and updates materials. Integrate current research, emerging trends, and industry best practices into curriculum planning and instructional design. Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement. Create activities and course materials that help students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Plan and coordinate academic schedules, assessments, and learning outcomes in accordance with institutional policies and timelines. Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate student performance, course effectiveness, and program outcomes. Use data to inform continuous improvement efforts.
- Support of Program Initiatives – Actively contributes to program and department meetings with a shared commitment to continuously enhancing curriculum, course development, program improvements, and student learning outcomes. Collaborate with faculty and leadership to align course objectives with program outcomes and institutional mission. Engage in program committees if applicable. Assist in the preparation, collection, and analyzing of data for state organizations, accrediting agencies, and/or the College’s Program Review. Participate in curriculum review, the College’s Program Review process, continuous quality improvement efforts, and accreditation processes. Support recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts that promote program visibility and student success. Promote interdepartmental collaboration to strengthen interdisciplinary learning and program innovation. Fosters a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented office environment.
- General Responsibilities – Responds to requests of academic area and/or program leaders, department heads, committee chairs, records office, etc. in a timely and thorough manner, consistently meeting instructional schedules and other assignments and commitments in support of the college.
- Professional Growth – Maintains knowledge of current developments in subject area and incorporates new knowledge into instruction. Maintains required certifications and other minimum qualification needed to teach in the area.
- Support of College Initiatives – Is fully committed to the mission and values of Lansing Community College and actively participates in College initiatives and the implementation and advancement of strategic goals. Contributes to institutional committees, task forces, and workgroups supporting College planning, policy development, and governance. Support initiatives that foster interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across academic programs. Collaborate with departments and administrative units to support initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success. Serve as an ambassador for the College by representing the institution at internal and external functions, as needed. Completes required College trainings on time.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Current unencumbered American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Radiologic Technologist license or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of clinical experience in the professional discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population and as a member of a team.
