Position Summary
The MRI Technologist operates MRI equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. This role requires independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to consider patient age and special characteristics to ensure safe, highquality care. The technologist contributes to departmental growth through participation in policy development, quality assurance activities, and continuing education. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive and escort patients to the exam area; review patient information and explain procedures
- Perform MRI services according to policy, procedure, and patient needs (all body parts)
- Complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- Clean, maintain, and monitor equipment; troubleshoot per manufacturer guidelines
- Report equipment issues to supervisor; contact service department when needed
- Provide first aid and assist during adverse reactions or emergencies
- Maintain sterile technique and prevent crosscontamination
- Produce highquality MRI procedures for radiologist interpretation
- Keep supervisor informed of unusual situations; seek guidance when needed
- Maintain appropriate supply levels
- Provide onthejob training for student technologists, assistants, and newly hired MRI technologists
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, including phone interactions
- Practice MRIspecific safety standards
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Minimum of three months of clinical and onthejob training
- Registryeligible or registered R.T. (MR) and/or ARMRIT certification
- Registryeligible technologists must obtain registration within six months of hire
- BLS certification required within six months of hire
- Ability to operate basic computer programs used for departmental record keeping
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including problemsolving and assertiveness
- Customer service orientation
- Demonstrated leadership, organization skills, and ability to work independently within established procedures
- Positive, professional attitude
Physical & Mental Requirements
High levels of mental and visual concentration for sustained periods
Frequent standing and walking
Regular lifting of objects up to 20 lbs; assisting with heavier patientrelated tasks
Occasional straining or fatiguing positions and motions
