The Pet Hospitals Lakeland is seeking a full time Veterinarian, Medical Director to join our team in Lakeland, TN. Sign-On Bonus & Relocation Offered!About You
As a clinical leader in our hospital, you'll drive positive change and medical excellence. In collaborative partnership with the Practice Manager and hospital leadership team, you will guide the hospital's medical standards, support hospital performance, and foster a positive, collaborative culture. Central to this role is your active involvement in recruiting and retaining top veterinary talent, coaching and developing associate DVMs, and upholding high standards of patient care.
You'll mentor and develop associate veterinarians, support hospital operations through effective leadership and data informed decision making, and play a key part in shaping clinical excellence and team engagement while modeling Thrive Pet Healthcare's Core Values.

About The Pet Hospitals Lakeland
We're a collaborative general practice located in Lakeland, Tennessee, providing comprehensive wellness and preventive care, surgery, dentistry, rehabilitation, diagnostics, and urgent care services. Our doctors enjoy a diverse caseload that includes routine wellness visits, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and urgent medical cases such as trauma, seizures, and gastrointestinal emergencies. With flexible scheduling, doctors maintain autonomy over their procedural caseload and work closely with clients to determine the best care for every patient.
Our hospital fosters a collaborative, teaching focused environment where veterinarians routinely support one another and help mentor veterinary externs. As part of a seven hospital network with approximately 30 veterinarians, you'll have access to an exceptional regional support system with clinicians whose interests include dentistry, ultrasound, feline medicine, wellness, and reproduction. We are equipped with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, four surgical tables, four dental stations, twelve exam rooms, two treatment areas, and hospitalization capabilities that allow our doctors to practice high quality medicine every day.

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., proudly serving Lakeland, Memphis, and the surrounding Mid South communities.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an annual full time base salary ranging from $165,000 to $175,000. In addition to base salary, Thrive offers an annual Medical Director stipend, quarterly production bonuses with no negative accrual, and a comprehensive benefits package. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
Your Experience & Skills
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required. Must hold a valid state veterinary board license in good standing for the state of hire prior to start date.
• Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible.
• At least three years of veterinary practice experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and oral communication.
• Sound medical reasoning skills and strong medical ethics.
• Passion for mentoring associate veterinarians and fostering a collaborative, team first culture.
• Interest or experience in surgery and dentistry is preferred but not required.
