Description
Remember Why You Became a Veterinarian?
Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital | Oakland, California
You didn't go to vet school to hit productivity metrics or squeeze clients into 15-minute appointments. You wanted to practice real medicine, build genuine relationships, and actually make decisions about patient care.
That practice still exists. And we're hiring. And we are privately owned.
What matters to us
Your Clinical Judgment
No one's second-guessing your treatment plans or pushing unnecessary upsells. You're the doctor. We trust you to practice medicine the way it should be practiced—with 30-minute appointments that let you actually talk to your clients and think through each case.
Your Schedule
Four-day work weeks. Not "four 12-hour days." Actual balance. Time to remember what you do outside the clinic. The kind of schedule that lets you show up refreshed instead of running on fumes.
Your Growth
Work alongside veterinarians who still get excited about medicine. Real mentorship. Real CE support. The kind of colleagues who stop what they're doing when you need a second opinion—because that's what good medicine looks like.

Who Thrives Here
You're an experienced veterinarian who misses practicing real medicine. You value quality over quantity. You want colleagues who challenge you to stay sharp, not a corporation that treats you like a widget. You're done with the hamster wheel and ready to remember why you loved this profession in the first place.
You're reliable, collaborative, and curious. You care about client education because informed clients make better decisions. And you understand that sustainable medicine means sustainable schedules.
Why Oakland's Grand Lake
Located in one of Oakland's most vibrant neighborhoods, right next to the weekly farmers market. This is neighborhood practice at its best—you'll actually know your clients' names, their pets' quirks, and feel like part of the community you serve.
What Our Team Says
