At Pet+ER Hunt Valley, you'll join a growing Emergency and Critical Care team in one of the region's newest specialty hospitals. Opened in 2023, our state-of-the-art facility was designed to support advanced patient care, collaboration, and a positive team culture. We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Criticalist who is passionate about practicing high-quality medicine while working alongside talented emergency clinicians, specialists, and highly skilled technicians.
Our Critical Care team works in close partnership with Emergency doctors and specialists across Surgery, Neurology, Canine Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Cardiology, and Radiology. This collaborative environment allows for seamless patient care and multidisciplinary case management, ensuring patients receive comprehensive treatment for even the most complex medical conditions.

• The anticipated starting base salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $200,000 to $230,000 per year.
In your day-to-day, you will:
• Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, providing advanced critical care, triage, stabilization, and ongoing management of complex and life-threatening conditions.
• Partner closely with Emergency clinicians, surgeons, internists, cardiologists, oncologists, neurologists, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary patient care.
• Lead and participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and protocol development initiatives that support clinical excellence and optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform advanced therapies such as mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, and other specialized critical care interventions based on available hospital resources and patient needs.
• Utilize advanced hospital resources including digital radiography, in-house laboratory services, ICU monitoring, surgery suites, oxygen ward facilities, and expanding respiratory support capabilities.
• Provide timely, compassionate communication to pet owners, helping families navigate complex medical decisions during challenging circumstances.
• Support program growth initiatives such as blood bank development, Critical Care service expansion, residency and internship opportunities, and clinical protocol advancement.
• Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians through consultation, collaborative case management, and ongoing communication.
• Mentor emergency clinicians, technicians, interns, and support staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Engage in ongoing continuing education and mentorship opportunities, including point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), echocardiography training, and advanced Critical Care skill development.
• Contribute to a collaborative hospital culture focused on innovation, professional growth, exceptional patient care, and advancing Emergency & Critical Care medicine.
What You Bring
• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification in Emergency & Critical Care (DACVECC) or Board Eligible/Residency Trained in Emergency & Critical Care.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
