Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center (SOVSC) is seeking an energetic, compassionate Veterinary Internist to join our growing specialty team in Central Point, Oregon.
SOVSC is the region's premier 24/7 specialty and emergency veterinary hospital, serving pets and families throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. Since opening in 2004, the hospital has grown into a regional referral center designed to provide advanced specialty care close to home. Today, SOVSC combines Emergency, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and advanced diagnostics under one roof.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Internal Medicine service while practicing alongside a highly collaborative team committed to clinical excellence, continuous learning, and compassionate care.
Why SOVSC?
Established Internal Medicine Service. SOVSC currently has two full-time, board-certified Internal Medicine specialists, providing Internal Medicine coverage seven days a week. You'll join an established service with an existing referral base and the infrastructure to support a busy and complex caseload.
A True Specialty & Emergency Environment. Internal Medicine works closely with Emergency, Urgent Care, Surgery, and the hospital's broader specialty team. SOVSC's specialists can collaborate directly with the 24/7 ER team, including in-house consultations when hospitalized patients require specialty expertise.
Advanced Diagnostics & Hospital Resources. You'll have access to the technology and support needed to investigate challenging cases, including:
- Advanced CT imaging
- Digital radiography
- Ultrasound and echocardiography
- Flexible and rigid endoscopy
- Laparoscopy
- C-arm
- High-flow nasal oxygen
- Mechanical ventilation
- Comprehensive in-house laboratory
- On-site pharmacy
- Fully equipped canine and feline ICU
- Dedicated step-down and recovery areas
- Internal blood donation program
The hospital's ICU also utilizes dedicated nursing assignments, allowing nurses to develop a deep understanding of their patients and identify subtle changes quickly-an important advantage when managing complex medical cases.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will
- Diagnose and manage complex medical conditions across a diverse referral caseload
- Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans for dogs and cats with chronic, acute, and multi-systemic disease
- Collaborate closely with Emergency, Urgent Care, Surgery, and other specialty services
- Provide consultations for hospitalized and referred patients
- Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities including CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, and specialized laboratory testing
- Manage complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, respiratory, renal, endocrine, immune-mediated, infectious, and other systemic disorders
- Partner with the hospital's ER and ICU teams to provide continuity of care for critically ill patients
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnostic findings, treatment options, prognosis, and ongoing care
- Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted resource for the Southern Oregon veterinary community
- Mentor and collaborate with technicians, assistants, and fellow veterinarians
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Contribute to a hospital culture centered around teamwork, innovation, compassion, and clinical excellence
SOVSC's Internal Medicine team takes a comprehensive approach to complex disease, with specialists managing conditions involving the gastrointestinal, respiratory, urogenital, hepatobiliary, immune, endocrine, and other body systems.
What You Bring
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in Oregon
- Board Certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (DACVIM) or completion of an Internal Medicine residency with board eligibility
- Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working within a multidisciplinary specialty environment
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
- Passion for continuous learning, mentorship, and advancing specialty medicine
