Veterinary Technician - EmergencyThrive Pet Healthcare Specialists - Albuquerque, NM
Schedule: 8am-8pm Friday-Sunday
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $24-$28/hour The final pay will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Weekend shift differential available.
About You
As a Veterinary Technician on our weekend day team, you’ll be the steady, skilled hands and calm voice that help pets and their families through emergencies. From stabilizing critical patients to assisting in life-saving procedures, your work will directly influence outcomes and bring comfort in moments of crisis.
What You'll Do
- Triage incoming emergency patients and communicate critical information to the veterinary team.
- Assist veterinarians in emergency procedures such as wound repair, fluid therapy, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (digital radiography, in-house lab analyzers, ultrasound).
- Administer medications, place IV catheters, and perform blood draws with precision and care.
- Monitor hospitalized patients, documenting changes and alerting the medical team promptly.
- Provide compassionate client communication during stressful situations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment area.
What You'll Bring
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or equivalent experience in emergency/critical care.
- Strong technical skills in anesthesia, venipuncture, and patient monitoring.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and compassionate in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members.
- Flexibility to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday day shifts consistently 12 hours per shift.
- A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to continuous learning.
